Curriculum Definition

Curriculum is made up of the materials and lessons used to teach the content (or standards) of a course.

I find it quite challenging to define curriculum in one sentence. When I think of the curriculum for the subject I teach, English, I believe the curriculum is made up of the books, articles, and other texts that I select to teach the standards.

Other Resources

After viewing the video posted in Canvas, the main point is that a curriculum is NOT the standards. I never thought that's what curriculum meant. A curriculum is enriched by the engaging way in which a teacher teaches the content. Additionally, the curriculum can be enhanced by choosing high-interest materials to gain student interest. Curriculum is a huge word....there is so much that goes into a curriculum for a given subject.

Webster's Definition:
  1.   the courses offered by an educational institution
  2.   a set of courses constituting an area of specialization
These definitions do not give a clear definition of curriculum.
